4.0 out of 5 stars I bought this as I like early J&M Chain
I bought this as I like early J&M Chain, Joy Division, Spacemen 3, MBV as I am sure these artists do. You can hear their influences in the songs, but it sounds great. Lots of reverb creating a slightly gothic atmosphere, you can't hear the words clearly, but it doesn't matter, the overall sound is great. If you like the bands above then this will appeal to you. I will go...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Tad Ho Hum
The KVB are Nicholas Wood and Kat Day and they are in love
with 80's electronica. That their little LP 'Out Of Body' was
recorded in Berlin seems entirely fitting. 60 shades of grey.

Truth-be-told it's pretty simple stuff. Set up a beat, lay down some
dreamy synth chords with the odd sparkly decorative flourish and

The KVB are Nicholas Wood and Kat Day and they are in love
with 80's electronica. That their little LP 'Out Of Body' was
recorded in Berlin seems entirely fitting. 60 shades of grey.

Truth-be-told it's pretty simple stuff. Set up a beat, lay down some
dreamy synth chords with the odd sparkly decorative flourish and
add moody monotone vocals. Shake well and pour over shaved ice.

These six numbers manage to be both warm and cold at the same time.
There isn't a great deal of variation in texture or dynamics in KVB's sound
world and they lean a little too heavily at times on Joy Division's dour
muse but without the rhythmic economy which made their mentors so great.

However, this said, 'All Around You' has a purposeful pulse and more
than half a tune in its favour and 'Heavy Eyes' has a bit of dark energy
going on but final track 'Between Suns' relies too heavily on a riff done
to death a hundred times over since Chicago's 'I'm A Man' to retain any
real sense of contemporary credibility. It's quite quaint though I suppose.

At the end of the day it's all a tad Ho-Hum.

To avoid repetition I might as well just state that I agree with everything 'The Wolf' says in his review as he has it spot-on.
If you liked (early) Cure, (early) Ultravox, Joy Division, Bauhaus or Echo & the Bunnymen you should love this. It's dark & gloomy with that gothic bass sound, plenty of reverb and the vocals are bathed in despair.
It's a shame there's no info about the band or any lyrics on the rather nice psychedelic digipack.
Individually each track is fine (if you're not feeling especially happy) but when hearing all six in a row they just tend to blend into each other.

I will go and see them in concert when they tour near me and I will buy future releases. The KVB are not breaking new ground, but who cares when it sounds good and gets you nodding along.
