Steve Earle gets 'clean' and reclaims his crown
on 4 August 2014
This is the sound of someone who's been given a second chance...and relishing it. Recorded after completing rehab and a stay in a corrections facility, and backed by 'special friends' (including Bill Monroe and Emmylou Harris), Steve Earle comes out all guns blazing and determined to reaffirm his country credentials. Compared with his previous live work from several years earlier when his addictions were in full flow and he thought he was some heavy rock star ('Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator'), this sounds extremely fresh, and it still stands up today.
Essential for all Steve Earle fans.
