4.0 out of 5 stars Prepare To Be Stung.
"The Sting" is the third live album by W.A.S.P following "Live...In The Raw", and "Double Live Assassins".

I quite enjoyed The Sting, its a decent effort by one of the best heavy metal bands of all time. If you're expecting another live album like "Double Live Assassins" then dont. The Sting is a much shorter and much more raw sounding live album than its...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Produced by Blackie - and IT SHOWS
Let me start by saying I have been a fan of W.A.S.P since the early eighties. For many years now I have heard lots of people complaining about what a control freak Blackie Lawless is, well people, here is what happens when Blackie DOESN'T have control over a W.A.S.P product. This album (and the DVD that accompanies it) were released by W.A.S.P's record company with little...

The Sting is a much shorter and much more raw sounding live album than its predecessor and is recorded in front of a smaller audience. The set list of 12 tracks is a resonably good set list with W.A.S.P performing classic songs such as "Chainsaw Charlie", "Wild Child", and "I Wanna Be Somebody", alongside songs from their album "Helldorado" which was the most recent W.A.S.P album at the time.

I would recommend that if you want to buy this album you buy it like I did in the double pack which twinned it with Helldorado. The advantages of that being that A. You get two albums for the price of one and B. Although "The Sting" is a good live album it doesnt quite hold up to previous W.A.S.P live efforts so if you dont like it you will still have Helldorado to fall back on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Produced by Blackie - and IT SHOWS, 5 April 2009
Let me start by saying I have been a fan of W.A.S.P since the early eighties. For many years now I have heard lots of people complaining about what a control freak Blackie Lawless is, well people, here is what happens when Blackie DOESN'T have control over a W.A.S.P product. This album (and the DVD that accompanies it) were released by W.A.S.P's record company with little or no input into the finished product from the group themselves, and in my opinion it is THE worst album released under the W.A.S.P banner - EVER!

Taken from a live webcast in 2000, the sound quality is poor, (the picture quality on the DVD being to the same standard), in some places Blackie's powerful vocals can barely be heard, (again - same with the DVD) and the whole enterprise is an exercise in nothing more than proving Blackie's critics wrong! The CD and the DVD are not worth the money and in 25 years I never thought I would ever have to say that about a W.A.S.P product. My advice to anyone who is interested would be this: Dont buy a W.A.S.P CD or DVD UNLESS they are produced by the big man himself.
