5.0 out of 5 stars A well-told tale!
Ms Bennett maintains her very high standard of word-smithing with this gripping yarn involving the usual suspects. Another 'can't put it down book' from this teller of tales!

I always knew Dixon had more to give, and in this short novel, leather-coated Lenny has a spin-off story to himself. And what a story!
The action follows on after book three of the series, Calling the Tune.
Lenny's deal with the police for information begins to erode at the edges and before long, he's back in the hands of wannabe crime lord, Carlotti.
Holed up behind the facade of a scrap metal business, the setting is both frightening and chilling as Lenny fights to regain control.
Bennett is a skilled crime writer, packing in the tension with every twist and turn. The dialogue is totally believable and the narrative is stripped back to sharp and compelling.
I could smell the fear, feel the broken fingers.

Lenny is one tough cookie, I mean, Woods rum!!! I can associate with his pain and anguish. On many occasions I have had to settle for Lambs or even Bacardi, but Vodka.......That's enough to break most mortals!
