5.0 out of 5 stars Great new way to get the HIV/safer sex message across, 10 Aug 2014
This review is from: AIDS in the End Zone (Young Palmetto Books) (Kindle Edition)
Hats off to the authors of this book for taking a refreshing approach to the HIV/safer sex message. The graphic novel format works particularly well here, allowing the story to incorporate health information without feeling too much like it's trying to "teach" the reader (for that there's a good set of websites at the end).

AIDS in the End Zone is also pitched at the right level in terms of story line and literacy level. This was helped no doubt by the authors including young men from to the intended audience. The plot moves along at a good clip and the cast of characters is engaging.

I would highlight that the high school setting, football theme and reference at the end to criminalization are perhaps best suited to an American audience (though worth considering in the UK if no British counterpart can be found).

Overall, definitely recommended for public and school libraries and support groups.
