This is an OK read, typically I'll give pretty much historical fiction ago and there are plenty of Griff Hosker books to keep you going! Typically I read the likes of Arnold, Scarrow, Cameron, Riches and Giles Kristian and this series isn't really in the same league. It's enjoyable but lacks real depth, I think my issue with both this and the first book is that it is too shallow and feels superficial. It's written in a style of this happened, then this happened and then that happened so I found myself never really rooting for anyone.

That said, it's really this that makes it such light reading so I consider the series a filler whilst waiting for other books.

Good story. Quite possibly the worst grammar and typos I have come across in a book! The mistakes are consistent through out the book and the series. Maybe the author should think about proof reading or having someone read it first before publishing. Slightly disappointing considering the price. I have seen less mistakes in the Sun newspaper!

I have completed the trilogy. I generally enjoy Mr Hoskers work and this was no exception. I personally prefer Bernard Cornwell, but the historical background is well researched, the fantasy mixes well with the history and the battle scenes are believable. Definitely worth a read.

After reading, and enjoying, all of the Wolf Warriors series and so far enjoying the Dragon Heart series, I have to say that Griff Hosker is a very good storyteller. However, the persistent grammar mistakes and poor syntax throughout all of the books I have read so far, is very disappointing, especially when you consider the author's 35 year background as an English teacher.

once again Griff Hosker has turned up trumps. Dragon Heart is older and wiser and becomes worthy of being called Earl. can not wait for more as he spreads his wings in the north country.

Enjoyable light reading. Not much depth to the story. Plenty violence, but lacks originality.
It didn't inspire me to read any more in the series.
