I found myself unable to put this book down as each page unfolded with a vivid account of Jonathan's walk with God and his obedience to the call to service. It does not hide any of the difficulties and challenges, but the strand running through the story of how Adventure Plus was developed is one of faithfulness to God's call upon his and Tessa's lives. Self sacrificing, modest and humble, we watched this Godly couple together and can testify to the voracity of his record. Living through some of the years in Witney, as the sailing instructor during those early days, Nigel would be able to add a few tales, and Gillian as a former trustee can confirm that the early struggles were well worth it, but this is Jon's tale, brilliantly told, and with many an amusing anecdote to keep the pages turning. Anyone who reads this cannot fail to be challenged, and perhaps even examine their lives to check out God's call on their own lives. 'Life to the MAX' can be your own experience. Ask God to show you the way! Well done Jon, all the hard work sends out a strong message! Nigel & Gillian Humphries

This book charts the growth of an organisation from a novel idea through to a movement with reach, positively affecting over 5,000 young people each year. Not hiding the embarrassing, the scary or the adventure, Jon tells the story warts and all of his move from a city boy to outdoor instructor with humour and lightness. However he does not miss out on all those events and meetings that occur only because God chooses to be involved in our lives. Nor does he miss crediting so many of those people who have helped him and adventure plus move forward along the way
The result is a fun and easy to read account of the inspired birth and maturing of an organisation that is having a positive influence on the young people of the UK.
Read it! Be Encouraged! Be Inspired!

I reviewed this book in March this year, when it first came out and I read it on my Kindle, but for reasons best known to Amazon, my review has not appeared, as I've just discovered when looking to order a few print copies for Christmas presents.
It is an amazing, inspiring and very encouraging book in so many different ways. A wonderful testimony of faith, hope and love, it is a great story of courage, trust and sheer hard work. I was a volunteer instructor with Adventure Plus for several years and have loved and laughed over reading about events that took place while I was there. Jon's inspiration and example are a joy to behold, and his sense of humour has diffused many a "situation"!
Whether you believe in God or not, this book will appeal to anyone who has a desire to work with young people in an outdoor environment, or is just looking for an interesting, real-life story to inspire and encourage.
