The story of the Bluth family, once one of the richest families in America who have now lost everything thanks to dodgy deals from head of the family George Bluth who gets arrested and the rest of the family have to live without all their money while son Michael tries to keep the family together. A kind of spoof of shows like Dynasty, the Bluth family are a group of self centered idiots with no clue as to how the real world works. An excellent cast and narrated by Ron Howard who doesn't get any screen credit but his voice is instantly recognizable as the show is done in a mock documentary style format. Despite winning awards and loved by critics and a devoted fan base, ratings were a struggle and so the show got cancelled after 3 seasons and a neat finale mirroring and going back to the pilot episode wrapping things up. The series got revived by Netflix and season 4 picks up the story years later with the Bluths still struggling and just as moronic and clueless and selfish as ever. The whole cast are back too though there is a slight change of format with each episode focusing now on one of the characters though all plots are connected. Absolutely hilarious, this is one of the all time great comedies and if the low ratings of the first three seasons are anything to go by also too smart for mainstream TV audiences as you have got to pay attention to the plot.

Arrested Development is one of the most funny, clever, well written comedy series of our time without a shadow of a doubt. I have watched series 1-3 so many times I cd almost quote it . As a treat to myself ( I'm so worth it ;) I ordered the boxset so I could own the entire series in one box. I was so so excited to finally watch series four I literally skipped meals in order to finish it!! However my fevered anticipation of it was not met with an equally satisfying viewing experience sadly:( :( The writing in series four just does not equal the other three series. As the episodes develop, if you will excuse the pun, the story lines do improve and we suddenly see how cleverly all the characters stories start to intersect and connect but it finishes so abruptly so so suddenly it's almost like a slap in the face for the viewer too! Such a shame it ended with a fizzle rather than a bang.
