Track 2 "Recess" is the only good song on the album. The rest is just a bunch of random sounds put together. Do not buy. Buy track 2 as an mp3. Very disappointed. Loved his last album with "Bangarang" on.Complete waste of money which is very annoying. If its not broken then dont try to fix it. I can't understand why artists change their style/sound when they are on the top of the world. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Skrillex debut album has finally dropped. (after several Eps) but instead of a teeth breaking, mind scratching, ear punching explosion of colours and grime, it sits instead like a old slice of lemon cake in the rain. what was meant to be firm, fresh and sweet, is actually just a soggy, horrible mess in the mouth with a slow and creeping taste of watered down originality; thin and bland.

After the opening track (Which could grow on you if you have a good Sub-bass and some dog ears), the album quickly decays. With the appearance of the legendary Fatman Scoop, who brings all his well honed skills in shouting monotonous, inconsequential crap for no real reason, into the albums title track "recess", I suddenly found myself wanting to punch a cat.

Several boring and relentlessly obtuse "bro-step" tracks later, the album suddenly breaks open to make way for a change in sound... Trap!
A random, bizarrely unmusical song out of nowhere with the 'tic-tic-tic-tictictic-tictic-tic-tic-tic that defines a genre, now suddenly being pressed, white-knuckled, into a CD that demands no more than 3 sounds at once and only 2 musical chords per track.

At this stage, seeing an artist quietly release an album that he either didn't want to make, or just wanted some cash, I could only click-through the last few tracks. after hearing the one-off jump to a the next big new genre to see how fans react, it add to my opinion that no real care or effort was put in to this release.

Cashing in or washing out, this album is best avoided.

For me, this album is everything I expected and more! As you would expect from a Skrillex release, Recess is full of energy from the beginning to the end. It's a lot of fun, and most importantly it makes you want to dance!

His sound has definitely evolved from that of his previous releases. Whilst the album features tracks that use the well-known Skrillex formula: he has made sure to explore a wider range of genre, influenced by the more fundamental instrumental methods. This is what I feel sets Recess apart from the standard dance music release; the diversity creates a more fulfilling listen and is what keeps you interested from the beginning to the end (without wanting to skip a track or two).

It feels like a well-rounded album rather than a collection of tracks thrown together at the last minute (which is a rarity nowadays). It's long enough to feel fulfilling yet it doesn't drag out longer than necessary.

Whether you love Skrillex or hate him, this album is definitely worth a listen. It will probably surprise you.

Skrillex recess album. Basically you wouldn't buy the album if you don't like what's on it so I'm leaving that out. Package wise. Arrived fast and safe.

Loved everything up until now. This change in direction is just bloody awful, it sounds like it's from 20-25 years ago and not in a good way.
