There are better live recordings of Jefferson Airplane available but this is still worth having if you are a fan. Sound quality is not great but it is perfectly acceptable given the source.

The main plus is hearing some otherwise unavailable songs and of course this was the last time that Marty Balin sang with them for a long time. The main drawback is the awful quality of Joey Covington's "singing". His song writing ability isn't much better and you can see why these two songs were never released on a studio album.

This was founder Marty Balin's last concert with the Airplane. The notes say his last until the 1980's reunion tour, but he did re-join them for the encore in their last concert in 1972. Marty apparently wanted to cancel the concert as Janis Joplin had died the day before. That said, the band aren't particularly downbeat. Of the thirteen tracks, seven were not on albums at the time, although most of those have appeared since (I'm not aware of any official release of the two Joey Covington tracks, so I guess this is their first release by the Airplane). The main problems are that the sound quality isn't as good as you'd expect from an official release of a radio broadcast, and many of their best songs are missing. A very interesting curio none the less.

This is one for Airplane fans, if you are new to the Airplane check out one or more of the first 6 albums from Takes Of through to Volunteers. It is clearly a bootleg, but the sound is high quality by bootleg standards, although the mix is a little off kilter at times. There are some interesting live versions, but Joey Covington's 2 songs show what a disaster he was for the band.

I must say that this has a great sound considering it's a 44 year old radio broadcast. It sounds much better than the old vinyl bootleg I had of this show (Almost Starshipshape). A very good performance too.
Would recommend to any Airplane fan!

Excellant album, sound quality very good and the song set list a treat. The band seems on fine form that night.

Excitedly received my copy today, expecting it to be an upgrade over what has been unofficially avaiable on the web for years.

What you actually get is a dull sounding release, seemingly taken for copy of copy of copy....of the web version, without any attempt to remaster / improve the poor sound quality. This just seems to be a poor bootleg.

Unless you can't get it any other way, avoid if it is not too late !! Just hope I can get a refund from Amazon
