4.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Poliziotteschi, 12 Aug 2012
This review is from: Milano Calibro 9 [DVD] (DVD)
From the engagingly choreographed opening sequence right up to the violent denouement this is a quality addition to the poliziotteschi genre. Di Leo directs with his usual gusto and gets great performances out of Moschin and Adorf, in particular. Bouchet just looks icily beautiful throughout, wandering through her designer apartment in a detached but highly alluring manner. All the ingredients are here : Gunfights (often, inexplicably, without any bloodshed), random acts of violence, casual misogyny and J and B whiskey. Raro have, once again, released a fabulous print and should be praised for their high standards. On my bluray player this film looked better than quite a number of recently produced films that I have bought. Sit back and enjoy!!!

Ugo Piazza (Gastone Moschin) is release from prison having spent three years in jail after a failed robbery. His troubles aren't far behind him though when his old gang and the police both think he has the stolen $300,000 dollars.

This is a great and highly entertaining crime thriller from director Fernando Di Leo. He keeps the film moving at a good pace and never lets the film get boring even with the lack of gun play.

Luis Enriquez Bacalov supply's the great score which use one part believe it or not from Django and the song and instrumental was later reused in the great thriller Designated Victim.

Gastone Moschin is great in the lead role and I didn't think he was suited to playing good guy roles but he is very believable but the best of the stellar cast including Lionel Stander, Phillipe Leroy, Frank Wolff and Luigi Pistilli is Mario Adorf as Rocco a psychotic henchman.

There's 'some good twists and turns as the film reaches its dramatic conclusion.
