4.0 out of 5 stars Epic
The author claims the book has been fully edited but it still needs a lot more editing to sort out all the errors, hence not five stars. He also waffles on a lot and is prone to lecture and repeat things but it's a good, imaginative story and reads well despite all the above. The science is good too but it is thrust in your face a bit. Book 2 is already downloaded so it's...

At 1st I thought Mr Majumdar was an astronomer, but I have now found out he is a computer engineer, and it shows. The story is great, the writing style is great, I enjoyed the book (mostly) I would have given it 5 stars but.. The author seems to think that his readers are morons and need every detail of celestial mechanics drummed into them. I found myself skimming page after page of detailed explanations until I got back to the story line. such things as when the main protagonist spaceship is aiming to crash onto the human stronghold, we don't need two pages to explain what would happen if the spaceship hit the atmosphere at too shallow or to deep an angle. I have just started reading book two I am expecting a long haul, straight away we are informed they have charted out the orbit of the planet Shaitan. followed by ..."When you find out the distance of a planet from the sun or any other star, you can predict its orbital period (time taken to make one orbit around the sun). this is a simple calculation of Newtonian mechanics. if the planet were to orbit in a perfect circle then one can even calculate its speed in orbit. No real life planet however orbits in a perfect circle. All planets observed have an elliptical orbit, an egg shaped orbit where the planet is closer and moves faster around the sun at a certain point and then goes further and moves slower at times". please just stop at they have charted out the orbit of the planet Shaitan, the astronomy lesson is redundant.

This review is from: The Battle of Titan (Shaitan Wars Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Great sci fi keeps you interested all the way through a book wanting to find out what happens to the characters and which way the story will go. This book delivers on both fronts. A very minor niggle is the editing especially in the second book which i have bought.
