I knew about the benefits of coconut oil before I got this book, so I didn't need too much convincing (although the book is pretty convincing and based on research!). What I really liked about this book is the clear and specific information about the different types of coconut oil, such as fractionated, cold-pressed, expeller-pressed, etc. -- all these terms felt confusing to me before, and this book helped me understand the differences. The certification info was great, too. I want to get the right type of coconut oil, and this information helps. But the best part are all the recipes. I like healthy recipes, and this book provides quite a variety of them, all using coconut oil. Fried coconut tomatoes and blueberry banana coco-muffins sound divine!!! Good stuff!

This is a comprehensive yet concise summary of what we know about coconut oil and its connection to health and nutrition. In addition to providing thirty excellent recipes using coconut oil and explaining how you can use coconut oil for thousands more recipes of your own, Patrick Smith provides one hundred and thirty different examples of applications of coconut oil for health and wellness. He does all this with a style that is clear, efficient, and easy to read. Mr. Smith doesn't waste your time with a lot of fluff, instead he packs a relatively short book chock full of really useful information. One look at the appendix is enough to assure the reader about the veracity and thoroughness of Mr. Smith's research. Although, you can also judge that for yourself based on the clear intelligence and thoughtfulness that comes through in his writing. I highly recommend this book, it is a best read for all nutrition and health enthusiasts.

I read this book because I know nothing about coconuts and their beneficial properties. Not only did I learn from the author that coconut oil is good for the body outside and in, but that it can also be used to make some fantastic meals. The author gives us plenty to think about with scientific facts to back up his claims about coconut oil and to top it all off, some great menus came along too.

It was well written, in fact so well written, that I am sure Patrick Smith could write a good story in just about any Genre. He is a writer with many hidden books still to be discovered.

Excellent and well worth the read.

Slightly disappointed with this book. Plenty of lists of what can be done with coconut oil and a few recipes, but not much info on how to use it. For example, recipes for things like toothpaste etc. In a book about the product you expect much more information on how to make use of it.

After reading this book you will be left with no doubt about the health benefits of the amazing coconut – a true super food. Applications For Weight Loss, Hair Loss, Beauty and Health (Coconut Oil Recipes, Lower Cholesterol, Hair Loss, Heart Disease, Diabetes) by Patrick Smith is a powerful collection of facts, recipes, and tips. It is well written and organized, but beyond that it is inspiring. Highly recommended to anyone wishing to lose weight and/or just improve their health. 5-stars.

The author has done a great deal of research, and combined with his own practical experience, he has written an extremely useful reference book. I love coconut, and I've been looking for information on how to use it, and I was very surprised to see just how many ways it can benefit your body from both the inside, and the outside.

This book covers everything from sourcing coconut oil, to a clear explanation of what are good fats - and coconut is definitely one of the healthiest you can find. When you understand that this pure and natural source is the best alternative to processed fats, you will find as much enjoyment in using it every way possible as the author has done.
