It`s not too bad in daylight
on 22 January 2015
I bought this as a pocketable camera, and to try out video, after 20 years, before spending substantially more on an slr version. Allowances were made for price / quality differential [40 years using Nikon professional SLR`s].
The first model lasted less than the Warranty period. It suffered from what appears to be the Canon twin bars syndrome [see more on US websites] on the viewing screen & images. It was treturned for repair / checking by Canon.5 weeks later I found via Canon Customer services, they knew nothing about the repair. Someone hadn`t bothered to collect it, ergo no repair effected [retailer statement].
The retailer replaced the camera with an equivalent replacement.
It`s not too bad in daylight. Remember, it`s JPEG, only, so Photoshop adjustments are limited, compared to RAW files.Night time, or in low light, using a Gorillapod it`s limited by its specification. It has HD video, but again is limited by specification, in what it can handle in complex lighting situations.
Technology has left this model behind. As an easily carried camera, if you just want a basic specification camera, or as a reportage camera, it`s ideal. However, if you want to expand your imaging techniques, it may be better to look, elsewhere.
