4.0 out of 5 stars This game is amazing and really gets you pumped for The Phantom Pain ...
This game is amazing and really gets you pumped for The Phantom Pain even though some people said it feels like a add on it is VERY challenging but fun to play the problem is I'm terrible at this game because you need to be quiet, sneaky and stealthy and not kill anyone to get S-Rank. I really recommend this game and for a current price of £15.99 it's a bargain lets hope...

3.0 out of 5 stars Metal Gear not so Solid
As a prequel to the upcoming 'Phantom Pain' this is only OK and that's being generous. The main mission is not very interesting as you use stealth to free prisoners of war held in a compound (this gets very repetitive). It raises some interesting issues post 9/11 such as the treatment of captured prisoners in Guantanamo. The back story to the protagonist namely 'Snake' is...

I was excited for this but it turns out to be a disappointment. What you have is the prologue to The Phantom Pain where you learn how to control the character. Remember the cool prologue for MGS2 on the tanker? Or first mission of Snake Eater? That's what you have here, a training level that lasts about an hour or two depending on how you want to play.
The gameplay is good, the use of the PS4 is great, but in such a short demo there's no chance to showcase a story, no room for memorable characters. All you do is infiltrate a base, duck past a few searchlights, rescue a prisoner, inflitrate a building, rescue another prisoner and escape... end credits... advert for the real game.
A mixed bag really. The gameplay is quite good, but there's no story, it's over in a few hours and offers poor value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best releases this generation, 11 May 2014

Although relatively short in some respects, MGSV:GZ makes up for it in many unlockables and re-playability. It is an absolutely stunning game; one of the best released so far this generation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Metal Gear Splinter Cell edition, 9 Aug 2014

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4) (Video Game)
It's amazing to see how Metal Gear has lost its identify over the years. From the heavily stylised beginnings of the Solid series on the PSX, through the clean modern lines of MGS2 and the sepia toned retro sci-fi world of MGS3, and then to the clearly somewhat Westernised MGS4, we now arrive at Ground Zeros. Stylisation is gone, realism is now the total aim of the visual style. Snake's famous voice is gone too, replaced by Keifer Sutherland, who not surprisingly sounds nothing like Snake. The environments too have lost their style and ambition - this game takes place entirly in what is for all intents and purposes an industrial estate.

What remains is a sneaking game which plays and looks exactly like Splinter Cell. Funny how the immitator becomes the imitated.

Visually this looks dull, partly down to the incredibly boring location, but also because this is a game designed for the last gen consoles. You'll find no "next-gen" asserts here, the only thing you gain over the PS3 version is a 1080p frame buffer, a 60fps update, and some higher res textures. It feels like a conservative, uninspired effort.

The game as has been discussed in depth, is ludicrously short, and only features a single location. It's safe to skip this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre gear solid, 21 Mar 2014
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4) (Video Game)
Technically this game is very very good, the graphics looks great, the game play is great (though the crawling can be a little clumsy) unfortunately where this 'game' fails is the length and its value for money. The game can be completed in less than an hour if you're familiar with the series and know what you're doing. It does offer a few small side missions but they maybe add an extra 30 minutes at best. There is moderate replay value for those that enjoy replaying the same part of a game over and over to find the secrets there is enjoyment to be had from this, but if you're the kind of gamer who likes to play once for the story then you will be greatly disappointed due to the very very short offering here.

Verdict....
A nice look at what's to come, the full game will be awesome. However this is nothing more than a glorified demo and not worthy of the £20-£25 you will pay to play it. Especially when you consider you can buy longer dlc for less than half the price. Wait until it drops to £10 then it might be worth investing.
