5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read
Really enjoyed this book. The whole history of Bletchley Park interests me greatly, and I've visited once, hopefully not for the last time. So I was instantly drawn to this novel, but not really knowing what to expect. I liked the writing very much, loved the characters, and it fairly romps along, a sort of cross between a country-house murder mystery and a Whitehall...

Really enjoyed this book. The whole history of Bletchley Park interests me greatly, and I've visited once, hopefully not for the last time. So I was instantly drawn to this novel, but not really knowing what to expect. I liked the writing very much, loved the characters, and it fairly romps along, a sort of cross between a country-house murder mystery and a Whitehall Farce. The dialogue often sparkles and sounds so 'right' for the period. I loved it.

The tittle may mislead you to Alan Turing, but from the very same introduction you will see that this novel takes place in the 20's. In any case, the adaptation of the language used is wonderful, and it is really well written. Unputdownable!

A story that kept you guessing right until the end... and then hanging! Cannot wait for the sequel.
The characters and plot appeared synonymous with the era which added to the credibility of the unfolding events. Amazing to think that this sort of thing could well have happened, and the lengths organisations will go to in order to protect themselves in the line of National Security. Interesting references to the Government of the time as well as domestic and overseas issues. Clever fictional writing that left you thinking this was in fact a true series of events. Just brilliant!

an enjoyable read, it captures the essence of what would seem the ethos of the establishment values and mentality. Tongue in cheek, a virtue is it doesnt take itself too seriously. Sir Hilry makes a flawed but likeable hero(ine)

Good Read and well written. Nothing to do with the Code Breaking era as the title would suggest. The story is based on the 1920's
