5.0 out of 5 stars ... free and didn't really expect it to be much good..
I downloaded this book because it was free and didn't really expect it to be much good...no bother when it costs you nothing...but I could not have been more wrong. I was gripped from the first page as the author wove an intricate web around the central character Caroline. I enjoyed it so much I downloaded the next two books which I paid for quite happily.
My advise...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
A well written story. Difficult to place it. It is set in the future after an apocalyptic event. But the people live in small groups in the forest so it has a strong feel of Pioneer America. Then some of the characters develop super powers related to a genetic engineering event. The weapons are knives and guns with tanks just about to make an appearance. Then the book...

4.0 out of 5 stars fast paced, 18 May 2014
This review is from: Warchild: Pawn (The Warchild Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Not the type of book I would normally read but was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the story. Caroline is a young woman who had been chosen to lead her people from danger. Bring on book number 2

This is the first book in the Warchild series of which the second book is currently being written. Please hurry up with this book Mr Lindsey.

I really enjoy dystopian themed books and this one didn't disappoint in my opinion. The books are aimed at YA and this one crosses over well as an adult read in my opinion.

Caroline is a young fourteen year old when we meet her, who has been raised by her grandfather in an America of the future.

What Caroline doesn't realise is that her life is going to change beyond recognition soon and she has been chosen to lead her people to safety.

A great first book to the series. Well written and conveying the America of the future well, this books moves along at a good pace keeping the reader enthralled.

I gave this an 8/10.

Loved this book. Buying the next one now, but...there were a few spelling mistakes throughout the book but compared to the plot and tension, the errors are nothing.
