Her Dragon's Fire takes us back to the world created in Her Dragon to Slay of humans, Dragonshifters, hunters and magic. This is the story of the second member of the Dragon Guard, Aiden.
Aiden is a Dragonshifter, part of an ancient clan which serves to protect dragons by sharing the same space as them and can call the dragon from within when needed. The first book saw Rayne find his mate, Kyndel and introduced the reader to the rest of Dragon Guard clan. Aiden already knows who his mate is but he has been punishing himself as searching for her got his brother, Andrew, killed. Unfortunately Andrew was captured, rather than killed and has feelings of extreme anger and betrayal towards his clan and is out for revenge because they didn't search for him.
Grace is the lucky lady destined to be Aiden's mate. Grace is Kyndel's best friend and a highly successful lawyer, working on a case that involves abducted women. She is a hard working, fiercely independent woman, who is sometimes stubborn and finds it very difficult to trust men.
Aiden has been fighting his attraction to Grace since the incident with his brother and is determined not to act on his deep feelings until Andrew has been caught. He is staying in Kyndel's house but managing to avoid Grace when she visits. Grace has never met Aiden but is instantly turned on by his smell when visiting Kyndel's house. When they do meet, sparks fly as the attraction between them is strong.
However it is not long before Andrew plans to use Grace in his plan of revenge against his brother and the rest of the clan. But his plan starts to unravel when Grace is attacked by those working with the warlock he needs to increase his power. This was definitely not part of the plan. Aiden and his clan manage to save Grace from certain death at their hands and this forces Aiden and Grace to confront the intense feelings they have for each other. In the aftermath as Grace tries to come to terms with the attack, she finds comfort in Aiden's body.
Julia Mills manages once again to blend the two worlds together beautifully and has created characters that are likeable and remarkable. Grace's intuitive nature stands her in good stead and means that she senses trouble and liars. Grace trusts Aiden implicitly and quickly, going completely against her suspicious nature when it comes to matters of the heart. The descriptions of the intense moments between Grace and Aiden draw you in through the beautiful writing. Equally, the story has lots of action and twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and biting your fingernails in anticipation.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the clan discover their mates and seeing how the ongoing story develops as the series progresses.

So this is the second book in the Dragon Guards series and it follows on after the first although it can be read as a stand-alone.

I like this series as I am a hopeless romantic so the idea that the perfect mate is destined by the Universe gives me tingles. However, I am not getting tingles over the repetition of being told constantly that the Universe is perfect, or what colour someone's eyes are, or the colour of their lips. I know that books need to be descriptive, I get that, I really do. But while I could overlook the repetition in the first book, it was harder to do so with this one which is a shame because I thought in many ways this book built on what the first book had created. The dragon world sounds wonderful and I would be quite happy to lose myself there again.

Aiden is alpha male through and through and Grace is secure enough in her own person to take him on and stand up to him as need be. They really do make the perfect couple and I'm glad that Kyndel has her best-friend back too.

The story that started with Andrew in book 1 continues here and gets more in depth. One of the things I loved was when Grace and Andrew were talking and she gave him what-for. That was excellent for me as I'd been thinking the same thing since he came back.

One of the other things that I love about these books is that you hear what each colour dragon stands for. It is details like this that I want to hear!

On the whole, a wonderful book that continues with the story. I will be carrying on with this series.

Aidan, in dragon form, caught scent of Grace and recognized her as his mate six years prior to this book beginning. Distracted by her, tragedy struck and he lost his brother. Grief-stricken, Aidan has blamed himself for his brothers death and stopped looking for his mate.

While searching for the mages, the Dragon Guard learn that Andrew was still alive and now infused with Dark Magic. Aidan discovers that his Commanders mate, Kyndel (from book 1), is his mates ,Grace, best friend and in the six months since, Aidan has avoided Grace because she would be in danger if it was known she is a Dragon Guard mate. Aidan now temporarily lives in Kyndels old apartment. Grace keeps in touch with Kyndel by phone and knows that Rayne's 'brother' stays in the apartment.

Grace is a lawyer in the prosecutors, office chasing down leads for a kidnapper called 'The Auctioneer'. After a lengthy work session, Grace decides to crash in Kyndel's place, and she and Aiden finally meet.

This was a great story, set over quite a condensed period of time. The action is a break neck speed and there are great flashbacks to when Andrew was a guard and a good guy! The glimpses of conscience he shows are nipped in the bud by his revenge based new existence.

I'm settling nicely into this series and am falling for these dragon shifters in a big way!!

Wow! I'm new to this series, but I'm loving it! Aiden is hot hot hot and Grace certainly keeps him on his toes as he tries to keep her safe, and explain just who and, more importantly, what he is i.e. a Dragon shifter. The plot is fast paced, with action as well as the wonderfully sexy scenes! If you've not read this series, I'd recommend it so go grab book one now! Onto book 3 for me!

The Dragon's Guard are on a case in trying to find a traitor who is the youngest brother to a pair of twins who are in the Guard. He is hiding by using lots of black magic, while plotting his revenge against one of his older brothers. There is love, mates and lots of action in this story along with lots of spells in black magic.....

Long and overly descriptive sex scenes, the romance was a bit too corny and embarrassing for me. For me there was not enough humor or personality in the characters, the story not gripping enough either. Not my cup of tea.

I wasn't sure of this when I started reading the first book, but quickly got into it and couldn't wait for the next or the next. I wish it went on and on. One you won't be able to put down
