BBC3 earned itself a reputation for producing rather dismal "comedy" like 'Two Pints of Lager' or 'Grown Ups', but in it's last twitches of life it redeemed itself entirely. 'Uncle' is absolutely brilliant, with fantastic music provided by the star Nick Helm. Despite it's set up, it never veers into overly saccharine territory and maintains it's quality throughout.

I can only hope that it outlives BBC3 and takes it's well deserved place on BBC One or Two.

Another gem from BBC3. A brave, refreshingly frank and honest, but delightfully surreal comedy. The chemistry between Uncle and Nephew is excellent, and the songs by Nick Helm a delight. I can't believe we have to wait until March next year to get our hands on a DVD release.

Loved this. Six half hour doses of laugh out loud comedy with a bit of heart and some cracking tunes.

At the centre of things is the odd couple pairing of Andy (Nick Helm) and Errol (Elliott Speller-Gillott), uncle and nephew respectively. On the day a lovelorn Andy chooses to take his own life, he is torn away from this pursuit when his ex addict sister ropes him into looking after Errol for an afternoon. You can probably guess where it's all gonna go from there - blossoming uncle/nephew bonding is the order of the day but it's way better and funnier than it may sound.

School camps, birthday parties, a battle of the bands, duelling uncles and more propel the mini plots, all amidst the sharp, witty scripting. It's always a gamble casting child actors but Speller-Gillott nails the part and Helm is on typically brilliant form. There's an excellent ensemble cast to back these guys up, too many to list here but special mention for the always great Daisy Haggard as the mother/sister.

There's some serious themes about - addiction, broken homes, bullying, suicide etc but it's all played out with devilishly dark humour and proves to be a winning combination. And then there's the songs. The brilliant songs. Anyone familiar with Nick Helms work will know what they're getting into here and if you're not then is a good place to start. Andy is a part time "failed" musician which gives plenty of scope for chucking in some obscure tunes and amusing music videos.

Overall this is a great package. Highly recommended.

One of the best things to grace our screens in years. Uncle may not have the ROTFL that you may expect, but these two comand your interest from start to finish. Well done BBC3. This may be the last of you, but by god you went on a high. #NoSurvivors

Awesome Awesome Awesome series! Nick Helm is fabulous and really nails the vulnerable yet sharp Andy character who just carries you along during his antics with his young nephew Errol. Best pairing since Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon, they are both witty, heart warming and realistic characters who you can completely connect with. Buy this and then go search out Nick Helm and his brilliant albums where you can see that he has been a great comedy songwriter and comedian for ages before this came along but I hope to see him become bloomin epically big! the song No Survivors which features in the series was written by Helm (along with the rest) and will be stuck in your head forever! NO SURVIVORS!

I couldn't wait for the DVD so got this on my instant video player. I love Uncle. It's the best thing to come out of BBC Three for a long time. It has laughs and it has a pretty good story, touching in places as well I guess. It's a strange comedy double act in a way as well. They just fit the roles so well and the interaction between Andy and Errol is always classic. Can't wait for the second series!
