Finally an approach that suits me particularly well. The detox is; no grains/ no dairy/ no starchy veg/ sugar/ coffee/ alchohol but lots of good oils, tasty plentiful veg and protein meals. My sugar cravings are gone, I lost 3 kilos in 10 days and another kilo since (while eating plenty and having a modest amount of the things that weren't allowed) and can now see that I can be slender for a lifetime. The recipes are really tasty for example; olive tapenades or spinach pesto with crudités for afternoon snacks and delicious curries or fish thai salads for dinner. Some people report not enjoying the breakfast smoothies but they work well for me. They keep me going for hours because they contain lots of seeds and ingredients like a generous dollop of coconut oil. Of course, a good blender helps. The only reservation I have is that soup and/or salad (with a protein) lunches take a little time to prepare, which is why I end up grabbing something quick (2 boiled eggs are allowed per day thankfully- a great thing if you don't eat meat). I will need to learn cook more and use the freezer for a range of soups and smoothies for busy days. I really like Mark Hyman's approach. His experience for many years helping the rich get healthy means that he's had the time and resources to really work out what is going on and design something that works very well for the rest of us.

First review I've left but this book is worth it. After completing 5 days and being on it, and in a general way for 9 days I have lost 6lbs. 4 3/4 of those lost in the first week. That was with a bit of cheating too and three yoga sessions!! Brilliant book, recipes are really yummy and I even got my housemate on it too! Really gets your cravings under control. Never thought I would shift my excess weight after trying everything and it is so much better than any other method I've tried and it is so easy! Hello summer sun!!

I bought this book after a recommendation from my boss who is a GP. At first it was just to be polite after her insistence but once I began reading it I couldn't help but see the sense it was making. I then followed the 10 day detox and whilst yes it is hard, and you certainly start to feel sugar withdrawals. By the end I felt ten times better ( excuse the pun!!) and would recommend the book for anyone who is finding themselves stuck at a certain weight point, or who is suffering health problems and are at a dead end with all other options.

Loved it and I am now sugar and caffeine free but a little addicted to Almond butter :-)

Finally someone who tells it like it is. Dr Hyman demolishes many myths here, to encourage us to take charge of our health without depriving ourselves in any way. Brilliant and recommended to all my friends.

Very disappointed to find that the recommended supplements/products that are recommended in this book to absolutely ensure success are not available in England. Again lack of photos. However the content is great, very informative but oh so frustrating in that I feel I cannot do it.
