4.0 out of 5 stars good for the money
It has taken me a while to get used to this bridge camera from having the pocket version, being so much bulkier. It isn't difficult to use and when I manage to do things correctly I get great results. I do find not having a viewfinder difficult especially in sunlight as I can't see a thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what it says on the box.
Absolutely pathetic, despite having purchased the product in March 2014 this is the first time I have given it a good test. It unfortunately failed on all aspects.Shutter speed on IA mode is too slow for action shots I.e. Grandson on swings, switch to sports in scene mode and image is blurred and trying to focus on an image when the sun is shining is an impossibility...

It unfortunately failed on all aspects.Shutter speed on IA mode is too slow for action shots I.e. Grandson on swings, switch to sports in scene mode and image is blurred and trying to focus on an image when the sun is shining is an impossibility. Whilst I appreciate this is the lower end price range of a Bridge camera I would expect a well known brand like Panasonic to get the basics right. The other complaint is the fact the on line bulb suggests the camera has a Wi-Fi capability, either this is a slight oversight by the manufacturer or a deliberate attempt at misrepresentation by the seller, because I am unable to find it.

This is a nice camera. Bear in mind that this camera does require optimal lighting conditions to take any good photos and doesn't take that great photos in dim light or inside with dim light.

To my mind it is a point and shoot camera for any body with very little knowledge of photography as the camera does all the work developing to make a great shot. From the point of pressing the button you have to make sure that you hold the camera after taking the picture as the processing is a bit slow. Other wise it is a good camera for an amateur.

I have always been a follower of Panasonic camera and want more distance so was happy to see this new camera however it was a total waste of money.
says it has image stabiliser but not in my opinion for long distance must have a tripod which defeats the instant action promised.
recommend buy others rather than this if you want distance photography

2.0 out of 5 stars Slow to operate, also unwieldy, 30 Jun. 2014

This review is from: Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ40EB-K Bridge Camera - Black (20.0MP, 42x Optical Zoom, 22mm Lens) 3 inch LCD (New for 2014) (Electronics)
I bought this in error, as a replacement for my broken fantastic Panasonic Lumix TZ. It was immediately obious that though somewhat cheaper this model is a very inferior product.

It is too big to put in one's pocket. It takes agaes from switch-on to usability and will not operate unless the lens cap is removed first. The high zoom is more-or-less useless on account of camera shake at high magnification...a tripod would be needed...also is very slow to activate. Recommend avoid at all costs.
