5.0 out of 5 stars 'MANY TREASURED MEMORIES FROM THE 'ROCK 'N' ROLL' ERA'
On board there are many great names of the 'Rock and Roll' years along with
many great singers and their songs of the pre-'Beatles' pop-scene.
Artists such as 'Bill Hayley' 'Jerry Lee Lewis' 'Little Richard' 'Carl Perkins'
and 'Chuck Berry' are among the artists that had them 'Bopping' in the Isles
of the local cinema's and dance halls way back in...

1.0 out of 5 stars Good ol' Rock 'n' Roll
The artists on the five discs bring back many memories of a time when music was music, not like drivel.

On board there are many great names of the 'Rock and Roll' years along with
many great singers and their songs of the pre-'Beatles' pop-scene.
Artists such as 'Bill Hayley' 'Jerry Lee Lewis' 'Little Richard' 'Carl Perkins'
and 'Chuck Berry' are among the artists that had them 'Bopping' in the Isles
of the local cinema's and dance halls way back in the mid-fifties.
For me artists such as 'Connie Francis' 'Bryan Hyland' 'Bobby Vee' 'Johnny
Leyton' and 'Pat Boone' are among the many artists on the track list that
really pioneered the early-pop years that had blended and sat nicely alongside
the 'Rock' of the day.
I do believe there are one or two 'B' sides among the 100 sounds to be heard
on this 5-CD compilation however it doesn't prevent this from being great-
value for money (current price £5.00)
I'll highlight a few of the sounds on offer from each of the five discs.....on disc one
''Little Richard' --'Tutti Frutti'......'Bill Hayley and the Comets' --'See You Later
Alligator'......'Eddie Cochran' --'Summertime Blues'.....'Dion' --'Runaround Sue'
'Bobby Vee' --'Take Good Care of My Baby'......and......'The Shirelles' --'Will you
Still Love Me Tomorrow'.......some of the truly memorable tracks on disc one......
on disc two......'Buddy Holly and the Crickets' --'That'll Be the Day'.....'Johnny
Tillotson' --'Poetry in Motion'......'Del Shannon' --'The Swiss Maid'......'Ricky Nelson'
--'Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye Heart'......'Eden Kane' --'Well I Ask You'.....and...'Helen
Shapiro' --'Don't Treat Me Like A Child'......again just some of the terrific sounds to
enjoy on disc two.......on disc three......''Little Richard' --'Baby Face'......'Bill Hayley'
--'Don't Knock the Rock'.....'Jimmy Justice' --'When My Little Girl is Smiling' (many
will remember 'Craig Douglas' charting in the Top-Ten with that one in the U.K )
'Connie Francis' --'V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N'......'Floyd Cramer' --'On the Rebound'.....and
'Joe Brown and The Bruvers' --'Picture of You'......one or two of the memorable
tracks to cherish on disc three......on disc four......'Jerry Lee Lewis' --'High School
Confidential'.......'Bobby 'Boris' Pickett' and the 'Crypt-Kickers' --'Monster-Mash'...
(There was always room for the occasional novelty releases back then).....'Pat
Boone' --'Speedy Gonzales'......'Brenda Lee' --'Let's Jump the Broomstick'......
'Billy Fury' --'Last Night was Made for Love'.....and.....'Gene McDaniels' --'Tower
of Strength' ( again many will recall 'Frankie Vaughn' charting with that one here
in the U.K) ......some of the treasured memories on disc four......on disc five......
'The Isley Brothers' --'Twist and Shout'.....'Bruce Chanel' --'Hey Baby' .....'Gene
Pitney' --'Town Without Pity'......'Chris Montez' --'Let's Dance'......'Gary U.S.Bonds'
--'Quarter To Three'......'Chubby Checker' --'Let's Twist Again'.....and.......'The
Brook Brothers' --'Warpaint' ....again just a selection of the gems on disc five to
enjoy...............I have quite simply pointed out some of the many great sounds from
this foot-tapping collection of the late fifties and early sixties.
There is a shed-load of magic-memories on board this ''Great-Value' compilation
from the early days of 'Rock and Pop' ......check it out.

My review of this cd compilation can only be ascertained at 99.9 %. (100 songs, 99 perfect, 1% not perfect. That 1% imperfection is the hit song of "I don't know why I love you , but I do ", sung by Clarence "Frogman" Henry. The problem lies in the recording of this recording. When the song starts, you can hear the music, loud and clear. But, the voice? One would swear that the artist is on the moon, singing into a dud microphone. Henry's voice is way, way in the background. Years ago, I used to have this recording on a 45 rpm disc. I expected to receive this compilation with all 100 recordings playing perfectly. But, it didn't happen. Well, I guess that one dud out of 100 isn't such a big deal, but, the buyer does have the right to perfection. Doesn't he?

I bought this for someone who is suffering from Alzheimers and the reaction was fabulous, the recognition and pure pleasure on their face was wonderful, so many good songs and so many memories...worth every penny and more.
