I bought Adrenaline Mob's first album Omerta last year. I was instantly gripped by the strong, sometimes groove metal, riffs, tight rhythm section and strong vocals from Russell Allen (of Symphony X fame). In fairness there is nothing new to Men of Honour, it's cut from the same cloth, even to the point of stealing their own riffs - for Let it Go just listen to Undaunted. If they weren't the same band, they could sue each other for copy-write! And it's not just their own songs they steal influence from. Dearly Departed sounds like it was written and performed by the Foo Fighters. The riff from Judgement Day is early Metallica and the headline guitar melody from Fallin' to Pieces is a carbon copy of Pantera's Hollow. Saying that, I love the stuff they produce. It's powerful hard rock, with some excellent guitar work, the songs are well structured and it's very well produced. From what I've read The Mob, tend to polarize opinion. There's nothing new here, and others berate Allen for not delivering vocal performances akin to his Symphony X days. So if you are looking for something groundbreaking, look elsewhere (which is why it doesn't get a 5, sadly). But if you want some great hard rock, with storming hooks, that doesn't test you too hard, I couldn't think of many better places to start. This album will be getting plenty of airplay from me for a good while yet.

Amazon says that 5 stars in a review means you have to love the product and I already love this album. There is a nice mix of heavy yet melodic with singalong choruses aplenty, loads of shredding guitar, and more riffs than is decent. Even the 2 ballads, Behind These Eyes and Crystal Clear are a bit edgy and anything but throwaway. What I particularly like about this album is that while you'd struggle to say it is particularly innovative, the band here have crafted some very very good hard rock songs that are instantly memorable with nary a duff note out of place and that takes a bit of doing nowadays. In a year where I have already enjoyed some great hard rock and metal albums this one has instantly gone to the top of the playlist. Great stuff!
