This short novella is a nice addition to this series. It gives the reader a little insight into what Alex was like before his change and how he actually meets Rylee, plus enforces the fact that somehow this goofy werewolf will play a pivotal role in Rylee's upcoming battle with a demon intent on world-wide destruction.
Despite the action in this novella, there's not much added to the ongoing plot line at all. Instead this is solely a look back at Alex and his entrance not only into the supernatural word, but also Rylee's life. Perhaps if there had been something to tie it into the events that occurred in book 5 I'd have rated this novella 5 stars despite its brevity.

I loved this book; seeing exactly how Alex came to be and his relationship with Rylee was so interesting. In the other Rylee books we only know that he is a werewolf who can stand on his hind legs and walk like a man, saying simple things as if he is not intelligent. However, in this book we get to see how he started originally as a smart man who made a very bad decision one night which took him onto the adventure in this book. I highly recommend.

I felt so sad for Alex, losing his humanity a little bit every day and knowing it. A lovely and sad story of how Alex came to be. A small ray of hope though, with a small miracle, maybe, one day Alex will be Alex the man again.
