Few bands are quite so unique as Tackhead - more a collective than a band but also with a unique and influential sound. Their best work has been quite hard to find (see the Power Inc CDs) so news they had a new LP out was quite exciting - even more so when I heard it was cover versions - and politically charged ones at that. Not a bad track, sounds brilliant on vinyl, and the extra download tracks are virtually another albums worth of goodness. Always great interpreters - having these classics to mangle in their own sonic dub overloading way gives us 2014's first great record.

Excellent to hear Tackhead again with their mixture of politico funk covers.
From the Rappers Delight sessions at Sugar Hill records through many incarnations on a continuing re inventive journey.
One of the best live bands I have ever heard.

For a couple of years in the late 80's, Tackhead were the most brutal funk band on the planet.

The Sugarhill Gang's band with Adrian Sherwood at the mixing desk created some of the heaviest, highly-politicised, mind-bending funk there has ever been.

Sadly, this album is a shadow of their past.

That's not to say this album isn't good. It's VERY GOOD... just not what I hoped from Tackhead.

If any other band produced this bunch of cover versions, it would be excellent but the Tackhead legacy deserves better.

This isn't much more than remakes of their Share>>Head album from a couple of years back. The production is mostly excellent, the band as tight as ever and, occasionally, Bernard Fowler's vocals work. I'm not sure about his pronunciation of Cinderella (Sindy-rella) though.
