I was ready to be disappointed...
on 13 August 2014
... but I was surprised to love it!!!
I was lucky enough to see the stage show back in 2012 and it showed that the wittiness and chemistry was still there, and I left the theatre crossing my fingers that a TV series would develop from it. Of course it was announced as we all know, but then when ITV were declared as the broadcasters, I had my doubts.
But I needn't have worried! The girls are back with a bang and as brilliant as ever!
It could have been easy to leave them in the same place they were when they left us before, but they have been brought up to date brilliantly and are written superbly. It's great to see Dorien brought 'into the fold' a bit more and have the three of them as a unit rather than Sharon and Tracey as the unit with Dorien dropping in an out.
There aren't many comedies where I actually laugh out loud (clichéd but true), but I really do with this one, and I can't rate it highly enough!
My one criticism is Matt Willis as Garth - he's not very good at all and spoils it. I think if they couldn't get Matthew Savage back, the character should have been left in Australia.
Other than that, the show is back on form and I can't wait for more!
