This a fantastic 2 disc reissue of Dionne Warwick's 5th, 6th , 7th and 8th albums, 43 tracks in all. Edsel/Rhino have done a great job, the sound quality is excellent on the 3 studio albums, all of the tracks are in Stereo (the live album is a mix of both). There is a comprehensive 28 page colour booklet that is very informative liner notes and lots of label scans and pics. The quality of music speaks for itself, a truly great blend of outstanding song writing from Burt and Hal and the tremendous voice of Dionne - what a combo.

Cd.1. (62.29mins). `Here I Am' (1965). A very good album, the first 5 tracks are all fantastic, especially `In between the heartaches' and `Here I Am' which I believe is featured in the film 'What's new Pussycat'. The rest of the tracks are ok to good. 8/10
Also featured is `Dionne Warwick in Paris' (1966). Live albums aren't my thing so for me this isn't great, but there are some good songs here, including a fine rendition `Message to Michael'. Sadly some of the tracks have better sound quality than others, some are a little muffled - not great sound overall. 4/10.

Cd.2. (59.36mins). `Here where there is love' (1966). A really good album that features `Alfie', `What the world needs now', `I just don't know what to do with myself', `Trains and boats and planes' another great track is `Go with love'. The only down side is an ill advised cover of Blowin' in the wind'. 8/10.
Also featured is `On stage and in the movies' (1967). A mix of standards, stage and movie songs, not my favourite album - `Something wonderful' is a good track. 5/10.

Overall, two really good albums mixed with two ok ones, but the two really good ones are worth the price tag alone. Recommended.

Following on from Presenting Dionne Warwick / Anyone Who Had a Heart / Make Way for Dionne Warwick / The Sensitive Sound of Dionne Warwick, this compilation presents the next four albums by Dionne Warwick. Again, there are plenty of great songs, some of which were successful for other artists rather than Dionne for a variety of reasons. The final album, On stage and in the movies, is purely a covers album, but it's a classic of its type that allowed Dionne a chance record classic songs from stage and screen. Some of those songs have taken on a life of their own that the original composers could never have envisaged. I suspect that some Celtic and Liverpool fans will sing along with Dionne as they listen to her version of You'll never walk alone.

Elsewhere in this collection, you'll find Trains and boats and planes (a UK top 5 hit for its composer and a USA top 30 hit for Dionne), Walk on by (a top 10 hit for Dionne on both sides of the Atlantic), You'll never get to heaven (French version), Message to Michael (a top 10 hit for Dionne in America), I just don't know what to do with myself (an American hit for Dionne, but a top 5 UK hit for Dusty Springfield), What the world needs now is love (which Dionne didn't like initially, so Jackie De Shannon was offered the song and had an international hit with it) and many other great songs.

The Paris album is billed as a live album but while some tracks are certainly live, others are not. The booklet discusses this at length, suggesting that some tracks are studio recordings overdubbed with live effects. Maybe so, but like the rest of this double CD, it is still an enjoyable listen.

A great album and well worth a listen. I have seen Dionne in concert a few times, but this is the Dionne I grew up with.
