yes well, as i said in title i rate it the best subs album.
It is strong, powerful and definately a fine punk rock album.
I bought this when it came out in 1982. (yes, im well in my 40's and old school punk rocker)
I saw the subs play live first in 1979 and they were absolutely fantastic! I love there AKOB, BNA, CC and the underated, D.R albums. For me, i lost it with the subs with the dreadful Huntington beach and onwards (wasnt keen on flood of lies for that matter)
Anyway.......... there is not one weak track here. All stand the test of time and the first time i heard Down on the farm i just played it again and again. Love the intro to it and the way it kicks and belts along. Brilliant lyrics too.
Title track starts things off and kicks in and steamrollers you. The whole albums grips you, shakes you and does not relent.
Sensitive boys show they can show, well... their sensitive side :-) but it still rocks and the guitar solo is spine tingling. Brilliant stuff.
Ice age slows it down in pace but the power is there. Great track. Bass guitar is brilliant on this.
I cannot for the life of me understand why the album has not received more recognition.
Its influence (not just for GnR's) is huge and more so than their other albums.
Buy it. You will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars EndangERed Species, 26 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

Stunning album even 30 years on, still sounds very relevant. Heavy metal influenced riffing with tinges of Harper's R'n'B past served up with the Subs' punked-up attitude. These people should have a plaque bearing their names nailed to something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant combination of punk, post punk and influenced Guns N' Roses..., 25 Nov 2011
This review is from: ENDANGED SPECIES (Audio CD)
A really fascination mish mash of an album. The first side is a mixture of punk veering towards hardcore hard rock/metal at times, in your face and raucus. The production is also heavier/.rockier than that of Diminished Responsibility (which sounded very spacey, almost like it was recorded in a tunnel). The second side is slower, more atmospheric with some interesting distorted voal and guitar effects- very post punk in the vein of Public Image Limited, Joy Division, Killing Joke, Siouxie And the Banshees, Gang Of Four, Wire etc (all bands which I'm a fan of and have deservedly vast followings). The album has great variety, and the version of "Down On The Farm" is superior to the version covered by Guns N Roses twelve years later on the "Spaghetti Incident".

I would probably rate it amongst their five best albums, along with the previous four that preceded it.
