5.0 out of 5 stars Better than ever!
I enjoyed the third Anita Sundstrom story even more than the first two. All three are good, typical Scandanavian crime fiction stories but just a little bit less bleak than some. Bleak is often good, but not too much, all the time! A word of warning - do not be tempted to look at the last page before you get there! I hope that Mr MacLeod is busy working on number four...

2.0 out of 5 stars very well written
I like the scandic murder genre, I tried this on a whim and was very pleased with it. Anyone who has read and liked other authors would like this.

Excellent episode in Ms Sundstrom ouvre.

I am intrigued whether Mr Macleod writes in Swedish or English. The usual issue with selection of synonyms by the translator doesnt seem to arise. I notice that even the excellent translators for Stig Larsson and Joe Nesbo sometime slip up when faced with the limited range of adjectives in Swedish and Norwegian and end up repeating themselves in Englsh. Translation of a novel where the author style is as important as the content cannot be easy

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 22 April 2014

Very absorbing story. You need to read all three of the Malmo books (in the right order) to fully appreciate the complexity. Although each book is complete in itself, there is a continuing theme developing over the three books.

More enjoyable than the second. The characters were well rounded and developed.
Would recommend this book and now hope for more in the series.
MacLeod has an excellent talent for truly keeping you guessing on who is the murderer.
Would recommend the series even if book two is a bit slower.

prefect duvet Sunday fare. Great lead. Good plots, believable without the poetic licence often required to ignore stupid things that don't actually happen in the real world, these are all grounded in reality but with a suitable twist - like a good cocktail, various ingredients that all make up the final concoction, yet none overpowers, they intermingle very well.

This series has proved a great find on Amazon and being priced in the budget range shouldn't put readers off purchasing.

Inspector Sundström is a fabulous character backed by others and the storylines are enjoyable with varied twists.

I'd happily recommend to anyone who enjoys crime novels and I'm definitely awaiting book 4 eagerly!
