Have just received this and played with it past 8 hours and very surprised how snappy this is.
I have given a couple of android TV boxes a try in the past and sent them back freezing and crashing.
But now with the RK3188 rockchip I thought I would give it a go as my main use is for XBMC front end which the others just could not handle. This does with ease even the 1080 hd movie files I have streaming from my 2TB WD personal network storage, not a stutter streams perfect via wifi through 2 walls 12 meters away to my router.
I use XBMC on 3 other TVs using 3 old Dell optiplex's as front ends, I wanted something small for the kitchen and this fits the bill perfectly to the point I may change the other 3 areas over to these saving money on electric bills and on noise.
I nearly gave 4 stars only for the reason the supplied remote is near useless as a mouse but plugged in my wireless mouse and all great so not worried. Oh if you purchase this get yourself some AAA batteries as not supplied as you will surely want to play with this little magic box ASAP...
Google store is already installed on it. I found it tiresome searching to find a decent android remote control app for your android phone to use, RKremote does this fine though not in the App Store just google it will come up its a free download.
iplayer, 4od, Netflix also tested and perfectly working. Gaming I've not tested I'm not a gamer but can not see a reason for it not to do this well, it's a little power house on a budget, best android tv box/stick I have tried
Can not fault this.

The product was supplied with scratches on the bottom of it and was missing the IR cover, it is also advertised as 1080p, XBMC settings suggest it is running at 720p and upscaling the image. This can be confirmed by using the Display Tester android app which reports the OS is running at 720p. 2 stars because the product worked, just not for its intended purpose as the XBMC full 1080p media player is was advertised as.

It was running Android 4.4.2 which i understand is not fully optimised for the chipset used.

Purchased a total of 3 Generic HD 1080p Android TV Box, to me delight they came with a UK adapter which is rarely the case, very easy to set up and XBMC runs a dream on it.

Like others have said the remote is not great and I would go with a cheap wireless mouse to get best results

Not bad. Definitely need the (not included) wireless keyboard as navigation using the remote is traumatic.Tendency to periodically blank the screen for no discernable reason when not playing video.

Easy to set up. Xbmc loaded ready. Had it for a few months now, and it is still working great. Knew the remote would be useless before I bought it, so I had a wireless keypad and mouse remote ready, which works great.

This little box really is brilliant, however for those not technologically minded I would say avoid ANY android TV box as to get the most out of it you really need to understand how XBMC works and how to configure it properly.

I have 3 android TV boxes now, one which was bought pre-configured and 2 that were not.

The box which I bought pre-configured constantly crashed, this was due to how the supplier had configured the installation of XBMC and was easily rectified by resetting the box back to factory settings and installing and configuring XBMC manually.

The box its self is tiny, for online streaming the wifi connection is more than adequate, however for playing media back that is on your home network, if it is of very high quality such as Blue Ray you will need a wired Ethernet connection.

The standard remote control is poor, so you are better buying a fly mouse type with integrated keyboard, personally I uses the mele F10 and it has been perfect.

For using the likes of Netflix, Iplayer, 4OD etc playback has been fine unlike some other reviews.

Well I bought this for my husband, he was fed up trying to share all the media in the house with his old cyclone media player.
So, what can We say about this?

Brillaint! Is there nothing that this little box can't do?

Sure the remote is terrible, but for 40 sterling did we expect more? No. So we now use our android phone. It is all ready installed to the device, so a bit of fiddly on the Samsung and presto, easy remote control.

One thing, It is fine on wireless for all application but will take a few seconds to buffer and if you are on a NON fibre optic broadband? Then you will see stuttering, this is not the device it is your connection. We know as we upgraded to sky fibre recently.

We also ditched the wireless and use net work plugs. This machine will and does play 4k so again, anyone moaning about sync or stuttering issues should really be checking broadband speeds. That's my Husbands words not mine, for me it is stick on cartoon world or movie world and spend some time relaxing with the kids on rainy afternoons.
