Dirt cheap, no frills, vinyl re-issue on CD
on 7 May 2010
Okay, so it's the original vinyl edition dumped onto CD by Hallmark entertainment (It's NOT a pirate copy as somebody states in response to the other review on here). Elmer Bernstein IS credited (on the back cover and on the disc itself) and the sound is actually not that bad. Not amazing, but pretty good. The downside - and at the time of writing this disc is less than 2 GBP, so it's almost petty to mention - is that this is a very small selection of the score. For the price, you can't complain and nor should you, because what is on this disc is stirring, beautiful stuff. And seeing as every other (incomplete) edition is currently an over priced collectible, this is a good place to start with this classic score.
I've listened to this disc a good number of times now, and I honestly feel that it's a very affordable and enjoyable re-issue as long as you know that it's not all the music.
