5.0 out of 5 stars Jimmy Stewart the cowboy
James Stewart with that infamous drawl of his could command a phone box never mind the cinema screen. He always conveyed a wholesome sense of what was the right thing to do in situations. Certainly was a great cowboy in the westerns he made (my favorite form of films). Westerns were not his only strength, he played a wheelchair bound man in an Alfred Hitchcock movie and...

James Stewart with that infamous drawl of his could command a phone box never mind the cinema screen. He always conveyed a wholesome sense of what was the right thing to do in situations. Certainly was a great cowboy in the westerns he made (my favorite form of films). Westerns were not his only strength, he played a wheelchair bound man in an Alfred Hitchcock movie and showed his serious side from another angle. He was a highly decorated officer in the United States Army Air Force. He ironically was rejected for active service, at the time he tried to join up owing to his height and weight not meeting the criteria set.. As a hero of the screen or in life James Stewart was loved and like when interviewed. I recommend this ebook.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written, 13 April 2014

Worth every penny @ 0.00.

Just skims over his life very lightly. Gives no mention to him starring in "The Glenn Miller Story" ,"Thunder Bay," "The Greatest Show on Earth" "Bend of the River" (or "Where the River Bends") or "Harvey", all significant films in their own right. No depth or insight to the man who bought the house next door so that his wife could extend her much-loved garden rather than move house.

Like all the Charles Rivers editions, it seems to be a collection of feature articles collated from trashy items you can find at the cheap end of your laocal newsagents magazine shelf.

I have admired this actor for many years and found this book quite enlightening. The background of the stars are not usually what you think they are, and this one proved to be just as intriguing as I hoped it would be.
