These period performances by Enrico Bronzi and the Accademia i Filarmonici di Verona are a delight from first to last. They are well recorded, in an intimate atmosphere and Bronzi, who conducts from the cello, has beautiful tone and plays with great refinement. These are disciplined performances which are never overplayed and which perfectly capture the subtleties of these classic works by this much neglected Italian master - a contemporary of Haydn. My only complaint would be that the 3 discs come in a double jewel case, when a cardboard box would have taken up much less shelf space. However, that's a minor complaint for such inspiring performances at super bargain price. I will certainly be exploring more works from this composer and will be delighted if any purchases I make match the standard of these recordings. Highly recommended.
