This review is from: 90 Wardour Street (Audio CD)
this is a decent release from the acid jazz label by the frays, most of the tracks here seem to have been culled from 45s or an old bootleg lp as you can hear the crackle and the pops but regardless this is a bit to much pure blues and a lot to much hermonica, when purchasing this i figured this would be bluesy sounding in the vein of r&b and a bit of mod ( think 1965/66 who/the creation or the attack) anyway as it turns out the frays sounded a lot more like a new orleans blues band but no rock n roll anthem included, this outfit went more for a 1940s 1950s sound when they recorded the tracks back in 1964 and 65 that ended up on this disc, regardless i have vintage flyers of who gigs from the marquee and this outfit seemed to open for the who a lot in there earliest days including there high numbers days so i do not regret buying this, i just wish it sounded more in the vien of r&b then just straight out oldtime blues.........maybe it was this vocalist who tought roger how to blast out the hermonica so well on baba oreilly??????
