Robert Reed doesn't seem to be much of a finisher, with 'The Well of Stars' and 'Beneath the Gated Sky' being two unfinished trilogies. Reed puts this right to some extent with this collection of Short Stories, the last of which serves as a partial resolution to the cliffhanger we were handed ten years ago in 'The Well of Stars'. This collection meshes together well and complements the aforementioned novel and its predecessor, 'Marrow', giving fans a sustained fix of this great universe. There are numerous typos in the Kindle version and I could also criticize the overuse of particular words (sweet, darling, dear, please) but Reed's work is genuinely enjoyable and well worth it for the price.

Robert Reed is one of my favorite authors. He writes of the far future with great imagination and style. The Greatship is a collection of previous work knit together in order with new bridge sections to make it flow like a proper novel. In the way that Ian M. Banks made the Culture seem such an amazing place to live in, Mr. Reed does the same with his futures. The Greatship is no exception.

A synopsis isn't needed here. Just get it and immerse yourself in this amazing artificial world and meet it's diverse denizens. Try not to get lost though!

Am not usually a fan of short stories but as all these adventures are set on the Great Ship that I first discovered in "Marrow" I thoroughly enjoyed this. Excellent - more please!

A collection of the great ship cycle of works by Robert Reed. Thisis excellent, some of these works were really hard to find before and this "chronologically" structured collection contextualises the great ship in a way I hadn't appreciated before. Great stuff.

Hope this was a free book, there is only one other book I couldn't be bothered to finish, what was he taking when he wrote it?
