5.0 out of 5 stars Trip Out to The Store And Buy this Collection
This is a really wonderful release of five classic Psychedelic albums from the 60's.

Unlike other boxed sets which concentrate on a single group or artist this set collects five different ones together.

Now this is a really terrific idea to bring the five together in one place.
If like a lot of people your original vinyl of the LPs has had its...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just what is Psychedelia?
Firstly I have to say that this is a bargain, 5 albums in cardboard sleeves that are miniture versions of the original sleeves even listing the music as side one and side two.. So why only 3 stars? because only 3 of the albums could be classed as Psychedelia, the fantastic album by Tomorrow (buy the release with the bonus tracks) and the albums by July.. over rated but...

This is a really wonderful release of five classic Psychedelic albums from the 60's.

Unlike other boxed sets which concentrate on a single group or artist this set collects five different ones together.

Now this is a really terrific idea to bring the five together in one place.
If like a lot of people your original vinyl of the LPs has had its day then this is for you.
If you have heard of the groups before bu have not risked a ful' price punt then you really cannot go wrong with this cheap as chips collection.
Heck at just under £3 for each that's less than I paid for the albums back when they were LPS.

The Cds have tiny replicas of the original LP covers great for storage but not so cool to carry under your arms to impress your friends and the world at large back in the day!

The Albums are
Tomorrow's "Tomorrow" (1968),
July's "July" (1968),
The Gods' "Genesis" (1968),
Idle Race's "Birthday Party" (1968) and
The Yardbirds' "Little Games" (1967).

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT value for money, 30 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

What you see is what you get, five classic but often ignored British psych albums. No extra tracks, no liner notes, just cardboard miniLP sleeves in a slipcase. A perfect introduction for those that wish to dig deeper into the genre than the obvious names, at a bargain bin price. What more could one ask for?
Ok, some people might want to buy more luxurious expanded editions, but for those who seek the original albums and nothing else this value pack is well recommended.
For reviews of the music please check the separate albums, plenty reviews are available.

Firstly I have to say that this is a bargain, 5 albums in cardboard sleeves that are miniture versions of the original sleeves even listing the music as side one and side two.. So why only 3 stars? because only 3 of the albums could be classed as Psychedelia, the fantastic album by Tomorrow (buy the release with the bonus tracks) and the albums by July.. over rated but psych and the vastly under rated Idle Race. Skeleton and the roundabout is a great track, why did it never chart as a single??
So thats the good which leaves us with The Gods and The Yardbirds. The Gods album is ok ish but linking the tracks with irritating noises does not make is Psych, you will play it once then leave it in its cardboard sleeve as for the Yardbirds album, well Jimmy Page does play on it and it has a couple of decent tracks but thats all, no wonder then that it did not merit a UK release till the early 90s.
So three decent albums equals three stars..

Everybody is missing the first of 2 main reason for putting these albums together! All of these albums have someome in them them that ended up more famous in later bands.
Here are the details:

Yardbirds - Jimmy Page
Tomorrow - Steve Howe
July - Tom Newman, who went on to glory as the engineer of choice for Mike Oldfield.
Idle Race - Jeff Lynne
The Gods - Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake
