cleaning improves engine performance and fuel economy
on 19 September 2014
A MAF, or Mass Air Flow sensor, is an electronic unit on a car's engine, which precisely measures the amount of air flowing through it.
It then sends vital information to the engine's computer, to tell it how much fuel to inject into the combustion chamber, for maximum engine efficiency at all speeds and loads.
Signs of a dirty sensor
Erratic idling, poor fuel economy, hesitation, stalling, limp mode, flat spots, engine warning lights, poor performance and emissions test failure, are all common symptoms of a contaminated sensor.
A poorly performing engine can simply be irritating, but also highly dangerous. Imagine experiencing an acceleration flat spot, when joining a motorway from the slip road, or overtaking a lorry on a narrow lane.
Why you must clean it
Over time, dirt, debris and oil particles from the EGR blow-by system, collect on the sensor. This causes it to miscalculate the correct air flow.
The engine's computer receives the incorrect information and injects the wrong amount of fuel, creating many engine running problems.
Using this specialised MAF cleaner, will restore the air to fuel ratio back to normal operating working efficiency.
