A really interesting read. The air of calm matter of fact from all the contributors makes for a balanced view. They are not trying to convince, merely stating what happened. The chapter on sceptics struck a chord. Definitely worth reading and then thinking about.

brother... [was]... frightened by receiving this communication. I am not sure my brother will ever be willing to accept that this actually happened, but it did.

The above extract comes from the, "On Skeptics and Cynics", chapter by Lisa Williams.

So, lady, if you ask your own brother for a quote about his own experiences for your book, he's going to say, 'It's your make-believe, Lisa. You're talking about you - not me.'. What may be innocent fun for childhood play has no place in mature adulthood - except - the entertainment forms of creative fiction and pure fantasy.

And Hay House publishing make their fortune selling the "Alternative..." entertainments.

"The World of Psychics" is free marketing. When Advertising Standards (prohibiting any claims that cannot be validated) culled quack adverts and infomercials, the alternative entertainment industry switched to producing books, DVDs, and YouTube movies to market their unprovable claims (clue: they always link to a more expensive something).

These are teaser chapters from other HH publications. Amazon do similarly with their 'Look inside...' tag. Hay House also do an annual 'Conference' where you pay £80-£200 to sit in the same room as Louise Hay's stable of authors, and hear them read from their latest opus. You could be forgiven for thinking, 'At least this book is free...'.

It may be free but it isn't entirely innocent. There are consequences if you switch from enjoying the entertainment to entertaining belief. When the reality check goes, people get hurt: financially, socially, mentally and physically.

Lisa Williams (for instance) is an advocate for the, "Afterlife". She asserts that living beings descend from the Afterlife to Earth purely to learn "lessons". But there must be more than one "Afterlife"! In Gordon Smith's, "What is the Afterlife?" we read about David Cattanach (deceased) who made frequent visits to the psychic Leslie Flint's sessions. David claimed: "In his new state he could expand his knowledge just by encountering another spirit. Everything that they knew was shared...".

What lessons about the human condition and relationships could possibly still remain to be "learned" for the benefit of the deinzen's of the "Afterlife"? If there's one lesson the "Afterlife" would NOT want you to expend your precious human life upon, it would be - investigating the "Afterlife"! You cannot learn anything they don't already know!

And suddenly you enter the insanity of unprovable circular arguments: great fun so long as you're not caught up in it.

If any "psychic" Woo-Woo worked or were real, we'd all be living in a different universe.

Enjoy the book for the entertaining free laugh that it is.
