Mild Spoiler alert
The reviews I've seen about this book are very enthusiastic. Yes it's was ok but I didn't have the same reaction. Some parts didn't work well for me. The abuse was carefully handled, yes but I didn't understand how someone who went to great lengths to hide this reinventing himself would suddenly be telling his soon to be lover all about it in no time at all. I also had a bit of an issue with the bdsm parts. Eric, the Dom who alex is paying after all seems a bit too sadistic and was quick to ignore all the rules and invent his own with no consequences at all. He happily ignores safewords and behaves very badly but no one even thought to tell the club owner? The storyline overall wasn't the strongest one I've read but having said that it wasn't a bad book - a good way to pass a couple of hours

I began reading this author's work with 'double alchemy' as I love the supernatural, I have always been very wary of the standard romance but this lady's writing drew me in and there is something about the way she writes that captivates me so I began reading this book.
She paints such deep and vibrant characters that I just simply fell in love with. Alex's story is so touching and heart-breaking yet his strength and bravery were compelling to read and he is such a beautiful person. The journey both Alex and Sage's relationship takes is rollercoaster ride of emotions. Their love for each other is so sensual and endearing which shone out in its beauty among the awful torment of Alex's past. Sage has qualities that stand out and his passion and love for Alex rises above the tragedy Alex has been through.
I found myself drawn into this book without effort, I laughed...I cried and I sighed at the end.
Utterly brilliant in writing style...this author is now the exception to my rule of not reading romance which isn't of the paranormal variety. I can't wait to read more of this very talented writer's work!

Well this book was worth the wait I couldnt put it down. I love both Sage and Alex even though they are both quite different. I hated Eric he definitly deserved what he got and some, same with Rudy.Poor Alex deserves all the love in the world and Sage will give him all he deserves I didnt want the book to end would be good to maybe have a little follow up novella or something.

A well deserves 5 stars, but want to give it so many more !!

Every once in a while we come across a book that pulls your heart out, crushes it to smithereens and then slowly repairs it, and this is one of those books !!
The last book to affect me the way this did was Carnage (Lesley Jones) but this was heartbreaking in a different way and from 40% onwards not at the end. I had to put it down many times as the pain Alex is going through came off the pages by the bucket load (a bit like the tears i shed). So many times i wanted to climb in the book and hug Alex in a motherly way and tell him to open up to Sage and let him in.
This book is so full of angst and emotion that at times i found it hard to read through my tears.
Kudos to Susan on another amazing story, Saving Alexander will stay in my heart for a VERY long time. Beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking, heartwarming and seriously sexy too..

This is one book that meant my kindle went everywhere with me! This is one brilliant book, you will love Sage and Alexander but detest Eric.

Don't plan on doing anything else the day you start reading this book, as you will want to keep reading to find out the whole story with Alexander and how he deals with it all - it dealt with sensitive subjects really well, giving you some insight as to what it was like for Alexander.

Would recommend this book, and will look for more books by this author.

Saving Alexander is one of those unique reads that you know Is going to play on your mind for day's to come after you have finished it.
From the beginning you know this is not going to be a easy to read romantic story instead it grabs your heart, plays with your mind and takes you on a scary emotionally charged ride that you have no chance of getting off.
I was totally engrossed in this book, the storyline was written so well dealing with rape' torture, physical and mental abuse that I found myself unable to stop reading even though my emotions were on high alert throughout. The characters I fell in love with and found myself wanting to protect and mother them especially when through all the dark times they were trying to build a relationship and be there for each other.
I highly Recommend this book....yes its a dark and emotional read but it is also a amazing M/M Romantic mystery which with take you on a journey you will not forget!

It seems a bit stupid to say I'm speechless but I am, I honestly don't know if what I say in this review will give this book the justice it deserves.

I am a big fan of Susan's and I have to say this is her best work yet it's a little darker than she normally write but oh boy it worked. I've loved Susan's writing style since I started reading her books but this storyline is just WOW. It's one that when you start you will have trouble putting it down. Eating and sleeping will go out the window. You will be so engrossed with Alex and Sage's story that you will ignore everything going on around you.

The storyline does deal with a sensitive subject and through Susan's writing you feel the pain the anguish that Alex goes through. The guilt this man feels and the way he deals with it is heartbreaking. Alex will find a place in your heart and you will want to hurt the people who have hurt him, believe me if I could get my hands on Eric he would get a kick to the balls. I detest Eric with a passion for what he did to Alex and don't even get me started on Rudy, evil is a good word for him.

There is hope for Alex in the form of the sexy actor called Sage (be still my beating heart) Sage is so swoon worthy and these two together melt the pages the sex is HOT. Sage takes on a lot when he starts a relationship with Alex as Alex's demons are always there. But they are both willing to fight for what they have together but people have other idea's.
The suspense is also Awesome someone starts attacking the people around Sage and Alex by acting out scenes from Alex's book and yes Susan kept me on my toes with the Who done it part and surprised me a bit with that.

I loved some of the side characters especially Dan he is the sort of friend you want but on the flip side gets you into some pretty awkward situations. And then there's Reg Doyle who helps the boys out of a situation that could of caused their careers to end. And you can't forget Cully believe me you will love him.

The ending is just an OMG moment because Alex gets what he has always wanted and he deserved every part of it after what he went through and who needs Safe words anyway.(you will have to read the book)

I can put my hand on my heart and honestly say I got caught up in this story and it totally blew me away I loved it and it's one that will stay with me for a while.

I have to stop reading books where people are abused - it makes my gut clench and I think about it constantly, but then that may be because the story is so very addictive. This was a good story, usual plot, starts out nice, you're introduced to the characters then something bad happens, there is angst and then it's overcome and we have a HEA. The perfect formula, but then you have to fluff it out. The fluffing in this was good, it didn't have any great surprises but I did find it a very compulsive read. I really like a story set in the UK as there are far more authors from the US and Sue Mac Nichol makes a pleasant change.

I really enjoyed this but it was emotionally intense. I loved Sage and Alexander. Alexander had a really traumatic past that was holding him back from being in a healthy relationship and being happy. I'm so glad he found Sage though cause Sage was really patient with him and determined to help him heal. They were so good together though they faced a lot of trouble in the book as someone from Alexander's past was causing problems and re-enacting scenes from his book. I'm glad they got past it and found the person causing trouble and Alexander really made great progress in the book. Sage was really good for him and helped him heal a lot through out the book.
