5.0 out of 5 stars Xcode 5 makes OS X programming simpler, 27 Oct 2013

This review is from: Xcode Primer - Visual Programming for OS X (Kindle Edition)
I have tried to make progress on Cocoa programming using various books on the topic with Xcode 3 and 4 and failed under the weight of the tools, frameworks and patterns that had to be learnt to get more than the absolutely trivial done. This book uses Xcode 5 with its improvements in the tools combined with simple examples that build up knowledge chapter by chapter. The book, as the title sets out, is focussed on creating the interface and then wiring up the Outlets and Actions to achieve small applications. As a first book on programming Cocoa on OS X, it is the easiest introduction I have found and provides solid foundations to allow the reader to move on to more advanced topics, using either Apple documentation on other books. Within a couple of days you can start to create your own simple applications. The book is well written, with clear examples and represents good value for money.

Review title just about says it all.

Up to date at the moment (Xcode 5).

Pity it doesn't recommend "Further reading" when you've finished the book.
