5.0 out of 5 stars A sad end to an era.
Interesting to see the built up to the end of steam and to realise where and when all these great locomotives ended their service. It was very interesting to see how many miles these engines had covered when they were finally broken up.

I feel this book would be of particular interest to those who grew up with steam, and also of educational value to those who...

I feel this book would be of particular interest to those who grew up with steam, and also of educational value to those who can only read about it.

A good read.

"The end" beautifully portrayed in words and pictures. A must read for all lovers of the steam locomotive. Great memories of the end of steam

This was the time when I started working on the railway in 1960, and it was a great time except for the withdrawal of the steam locomotives.

All the DVD content made from amateur 8mm films with dubbed sound, which could be better. The book I note, was printed in China, it has small print size and is quite a heavy tome, I have not had time to read it through yet so I cannot verify the accuracy of the text. However, the DVD has much unseen film and that in itself is becoming a rarity, so worth having for that alone.
