This book offers a truly humane approach to the difficulties and troubles of life. This is a genuinely practical book of philosophy. The range of allusion and reference is wholly admirable, and this book is clearly the fruit of much thoughtful reading as well as a perceptive approach to living; one of the great things about it is the feeling that with this author you...

3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as some of the other books in this series
Having read "how to think more about sex", "how to age" and "how to be alone" in this series of books and found them enlightening and interesting, "how to deal with adversity" came as something of a disappointment. It just was not as deep or as interesting as the other texts were - the insights were not as good. could have done better

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I hoped, 27 April 2014

This review is from: How to Deal with Adversity (School of Life) (Kindle Edition)
I found this book pretty hard going, and not very accessible. Maybe I was hoping for something a little more thought-provoking, and a little less heavy on literary quotes etc, which I had found in other books in the School of Life range. I didn't finish the book - only the second book I've ever given up on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely superb - buy this book!!!, 16 Jun 2014
If there is one book you should buy it is this. An absolutely stunning book written beautifully. Found it nearly impossible to put down - Hamilton writes with clarity and friendliness whilst making some deep philosophical issues easy to grasp. Def worth reading. Will enlighten you on how to cope with some of life's most difficult inevitabilities.
