Helpful history, but a lack of focus and not for your average churchgoer
on 16 January 2014
The most helpful part of this was the historical background. The explanation of various theological positions dating from the early church through the Reformation to the present day was first rate. It was new to me at least.
However, I felt it wasn't pulled together well. A lot of Christians, if they're honest, don't really get anything out of the Lord's supper, and I was hoping Sproul would help to put some flesh on the bones, but that was sadly lacking.
Also, helpful as what I learned was, I wouldn't give this to your average, enquiring congregation member. I consider myself fairly well read theologically and it was fine for me, but it's too complex for most people, I feel.
