Cora Cardenas is in big trouble, her late brother Hector had left behind a multitude of debts. Now the men owed the money had come after Cora. After agreeing to do something very foolish and out of character, she's in really big trouble. Deciding to flee, there's only one man who can help her. Stig Wyvern her late brothers best friend. Both men had served as marines in Afganistan.

What Cora doesn't know is, that Stig is something otherworldly he's not human. He's a dragon that has been around for centuries. At the moment he's going through his mating phase so Cora couldn't have picked a worse time to come and find him.

This is a quick read. I liked the story and the way the author laid out the dragon world. There are some hot scenes in this, between the two leads. However, I think this story needed to be longer and fleshed out better. It did suffer from being too short, that made it feel rushed. Nevertheless I love this authors work and will definitely read the next book in this series.

what the blur says.....The last thing dragon shifter Stig Wyvern needs is his dead friend's kid sister showing up on his doorstep, especially since he's just minutes away from entering a mating phase. Sharing his isolated house with the young woman he's desperately lusted after for quite some time is a recipe for disaster. But Cora Cardenas has nowhere else to go. She's in deep trouble with some really nasty people and Stig is the only one who can protect her. That he's deliciously sexy and makes her tingle with the simplest of smiles is an added bonus.Cora quickly realizes Stig is hiding something from her. To make matters worse, she's plagued with breathtakingly naughty dreams starring a shadowed lover who bears a startling resemblance to her host. And what the hell is going on in the basement at night? Stig needs to get Cora out of his house but his inner beast has other ideas. He's found his mate and she's not going anywhere.

what I say....short! far too short!! would love to have seen this a longer, deeper book. some things are not explained too well, and I was left feeling...Erm...WHAT?? set over only a couple of days, not much time for a relationship to develop, but plenty of time for that MINE moment! so, since time is short, so is the action, but still a good read. i'll look out more by this author, in this series, though.

one thing that did annoying, finished book at 82%!

It's no secret that I have a thing for dragons so of course when I see a book about dragon shifters I immediately want to read it! I couldn't wait to start reading Lolita Lopez's dragon series with Dead Sexy Dragon especially since it's a novella and therefore perfect to fit in when I didn't have a huge amount of time to read. I have to say I'm intrigued by the world the author has created, I like the idea of the practically immortal dragons living in secret amongst us and I'm even more curious about the idea of the human members of the Knights of St. George who hunt them. There is a lot of potential for some really interesting world building there - I wonder if we might see a knight fall in love with a dragon at some point in the series?

I know that stories have to move quickly when they're a novella, the author has a limited number of words to work with and obviously that means that things happen faster than they would in a full length novel and I can deal with that. Unfortunately in this case I found it difficult to believe that these characters go from friends who have the hots to each other to declaring their undying love for each other within the space of a couple of days. It did help that they have history together but I still didn't find it believable. I also felt that Cora's reaction to finding out Stig was a dragon were unrealistic, considering she isn't supposed to know that dragons exist she takes the news completely in her stride and hardly even questions him about it.

As much as I had problems with the story it is undoubtedly a sexy read. The couple have fantastic chemistry and I enjoyed reading about their sexy times. I think this series has a lot of potential but I want to learn more about the dragons and their abilities and their ongoing war with the knights in the next instalment. I'm hoping these books will just get better and better when the author has had more time to flesh out the world she's created.

DEAD SEXY DRAGON is the first storyline in Lolita Lopez's new paranormal dragon shifter Dragon Heat series of novellas. This is Stig and Cora's storyline and because it is a novella, the world and character building are limited but the information revealed is enough for an introductory novel.

Stig is entering his mating cycle and the last things he needs is the woman who has called to his heart for the last number of years. As the sister of his deceased best friend, Stig has always kept a hands off policy with regards to Cora, but on this night, his heart as well as his dragon know only one thing-that Cora will be his.

But to add complication to the scenario, Cora is basically on the run. Following the death of her brother and her grandmother, in a short time span, Cora found herself facing a few problems including a large amount of debt and some nasty people willing to make her work to pay off the money that she owed. Running to Stig seemed like the only viable option and Cora would discover that there is more to the man that she loves than the mysterious and guarded former soldier.

Dead Sexy Dragon is a fast paced, introductory storyline that reveals some of the background information about the dragon history and the Knights trying to end their lives. At war for centuries, the Knights are closing in on the few remaining dragons and Stig and Cora are their latest targets.

We are quickly introduced to a few other dragons including the leader Ignatius, Madoc and Grif who will each have a story of their own to tell.

The sexual tension is high as Stig refuses to allow his dragon the need to mate. But something inside Cora calls to Stig and not only do they dance around each other but their nightly psychic visits are as real as any fantasy can get. The sex scenes are hot and steamy and, in the end, you will discover that Cora and Stig were made for each other.

Lolita Lopez blends the paranormal with the contemporary and allows the reader to experience the terror of losing one's mate all in the name of a war fought to keep the memory of a forbidden love alive.
