3.0 out of 5 stars Miele CM6300, 27 Feb 2014

Hi, had the CM6300 for a few weeks now, so hope this helps. Looked at Jura machines as well as others but decided on this machine due to the dual cappuccino option and the auto rinsing, house, has 8 to 10 coffee's a day.

Compared to Nespresso machines the machine is slow and very messy but the coffee is much better.

When the machine is turned on, it rinses, when it left for 15 to 20 mins it rinses, when it turns off it rinses. This causes the very frequent empting of the collection tray and top up of water, and frustration on a early morning when all I want is a quick coffee.

It is also very messy, the collection tray collects water but also ground coffee that does not collect in the waste compartment, this has to be washed off when the tray is emptied, several times a day.

Degreasing and descaling is very easy but lots of ground coffee is also present in the working of the machine, when the brew unit is removed for cleaning and has to cleaned out, not easy at all.

The milk flask, I found it very small and "not fit for purpose" due to its size, and tend to use the milk straight from the plastic milk container (UK), out of the fridge.

Build quality, very good and very easy to use controls, good quality components, body is a little flimsy the brew unit door is not flush, and the magnet used to hold the door in place, has already come away.

To summarise, really good machine but not worth paying the high price in my opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks sleek and nice, but big mistake, 31 July 2014

After 17 years of good and pleasing service from a SAECO Royal Professional, we decided to replace the dying workhorse with a new machine. Having just bought a Miele tumble dryer, we looked at the standalone CM6300 from Miele (1199 euros, 1625 USD). Trusting this company we bought the unit and our experience has been nothing but problems. Unpacking we see that the milk unit jar wrapping had been torn by someone else (Miele never responded). The manual came in German only. This was later solved by Miele sending a local language folded A4 printout.
All in all the unit was unusable for us, not fit for purpose: excessive wait times and process times, numerous times when you come to the machine it is busy purging by its own and you cannot request any service. This is particularly not fit for purpose in the morning when you try to have a timely breakfast (and never occurred with the other machine).
Also, the display lettering is small so as you near it to be able to decipher and select a beverage, the blast of initial steam almost burned my mother's face. Not good safety wise.
Also, from an engineering design standpoint the display electronics is repeatedly bathed in a cloud of steam that at times fogs out the display. Steam is water and electronics to not like water.
Of course we voiced all these concerns to Miele / Miele Marketing. No reply to those points. We returned the machine to them. The still have our money and did not want to process the refund "because there is no defects" according to them. So much for always better in our actual experience. So 1199 euros out of pocket, no machine and having to generate formal complaints with consumer administration and court. That is our real experience with the Miele CM6300.
