5.0 out of 5 stars Diary of a Nobody. Kindle
Wonderful funny book. Gentle humour on every page as things generally don't go the way of the affable but slightly pompous diarist Pooter. Such as the farcical seance at his house, and having his beard pulled 'till the tears came into my eyes' by an angry cabman. Kindle version is absolutely fine, and included the lovely illustrations.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Diary of a Nobody.
Okay for a light read. I got bored and wondered why I wanted to read about people that I did not know. Quite funny in places.

Enjoyed this book for years. It is the best description of a growing Victorian phenomenon, the pompous middle class twist; very much an emerging feature of the time

One of those books you have seen extracts on TV, and read a chapter or two online, as it's out of copyright, mistakingly remembering that you read it completely but can't remember the story. So downloading the Kindle edition I found it as hilarious as before, the daily diary comments are tow curlingly funny, the only sad bit is like all Kindle books the end hits you like a brick, I mean sooner than you think, bit like the tide going out. This is no different it leaves you wishing that a disaster accompanied the ending. Comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lamb!

To me this felt like reading the diary of Adrian Mole's great- grandfather. It is what it says on the cover- a diary kept by a fairly ordinary man of his time - fascinating and amusing. Really good social history.

Down loaded as a holiday read, once started difficult to put down. An interesting incite into life as it was.
