I've never felt more compelled to write a review about an album before but then I've never been left so astonished after listening to an album before. A lot of musical theatre performers have been releasing albums recently but Rachel Tucker has raised the bar to heights that will be difficult to match by any singer, let alone one who has the ability to sing and act through song with such ease.

This album is a perfect blend of emotionally driven covers that each have a personal meaning to Rachel. It was a wonderful insight, having been to her recent album launch, to hear those reasons explained. But explanations aren't required in order to appreciate the perfect blend of a subtle lullabies "Gone too Soon", to the big belting numbers of the title song and "One Night Only". There are so many highlights to this album that its difficult to pick stand out tracks. The opening track "Small Bump" epitomises the personal touch that Rachel has placed on her album with the birth of her first child being acknowledged through this gorgeous version of Ed Sheeran's number. "I'll Cover You" and "No One But You" are original acoustic versions of songs from shows that had a significant impact on her career. "Stone Cold Sober" is a brilliant and dynamic version showing the full range of her diverse voice. Then there is the sumptuous "My Immortal". This track along with Celine Dion's version of "The Reason" were tracks that I didn't think was possible to record a better version but Rachel's spectacular vocals actually enhance both tracks which considering the quality of the original recordings, only goes to show what a special and unique talent Rachel Tucker is.

The last 2 tracks are very special indeed but for very different reasons. There are not many performers who would include their own Dad on the debut album but Rachel's duet with her Dad is a testimony to the fact that not only has he had a significant influence on her life, but that she is humble enough to acknowledge this with another touching moment on the album. The medley probably doesn't fit the rest of the feel to the album but it again shows the diversity of her talents and voice. It's fair to say that most Rachel Tucker fans will probably buy her album for track 9 alone. It does seem to be that most former Elphaba's ("Wicked") seem to record their own version of Defying Gravity, but after listening to Rachel's version, it is very difficult to describe in words as I have never heard a song sung with such passion, power and control. It is quite simply breathtaking. I get the impression that this version has been recorded for her fans as it has the same amount of fierceness and passion that the show version has and yet to hear this song out of context still absolutely works because of the ability that Rachel has tell a story through a song. I doubt there will be many other versions of this song that have such a 'wow' factor behind it!

You may well have never heard of Rachel Tucker, you may well not be a fan of musical theatre, but this album is so much more than that. Rachel Tucker's album is a perfect blend of acoustic melody delivered by a voice that covers the whole spectrum of sultry low velvet tones to belting notes that you didn't even think were possible to be achieved without breaking into head voice. It is truly breathtaking and is an album that I have listened to several times now and still am astonished every time I hear the incredible vocal range of Rachel Tucker. This is one talented lady and I'm already looking forwards to hear next album which will more than likely feature her own songs. She can do everything else it seems so I'm sure writing will come naturally too!

Simply stunning album. She has a completely unique singing gift.. She's like Eva Cassidy, Tina Turner and Celine Dion rolled into one and then some. Rachel makes me get up and dance one minute (Stone cold sober) and cry with the passion, emotion and purity in many other tracks, especially Defying Gravity.
This album is a joy to listen to again and again. I have bought it for my Parents my Gran my Sister and my Nephew They all love it too and had never heard her before. Bring on the next Album ASAP!!!
