5.0 out of 5 stars Album Of The Year
This is without any doubt THE album of the way, a very pleasant surprise from Greco who had recorded the songs--in just a couple of afternoons--before announcing the album's release. Greco is 86, and shows no sign of slowing down. The voice naturally is not of the same strength as it was in the 1980s, but it has acquire a beautiful, intensely personal quality. Some of...

3.0 out of 5 stars alas!
Oh dear, heartbreaking. The goddess has gone on just that bit too long. It's hardly recognisable as Brel, and Jacques would have dismissed it brutally.

Some of these songs she has been performing for years, therefore her husband Gérard Jouannest must be congratulated for giving us new arrangements of "Bruxelles" and "J'arrive". Her "Ansterdam" is sublime--it's a rather vulgar song, and a big surprise to hear her performing this, indeed also "Ces gens-la", something of a Brel set-piece. For me, the true delights here are "Je suis un soir d'été" and "Fils de", while "J'aimais" and "Le prochain amour" bring a big lump to the throat and tears to the eyes. A truly beautiful collection from arguably the greatest female singer in France today.

Juliette puts her interpretation on to many of the songs written by Jacques Brel. The musical interpretation is par excellent and is worth a listen to this amazing woman.
