Even if you think you know how to use eBAY, this book is worth having. There is a big intro on the origins, but throughout, you will find yourself picking up odd tips here and there, which may seem obvious but you may not have implemented. Ideal for both complete new people and more seasoned ebayers, as you can skip about the book to those bits most relevant to you.

I have found this an extremely useful aid to understand the principles of selling (and buying) on eBay. It is easy to use and although written for beginners like me I am sure it will be my bible for some time to come. The easy way it is written and the clear examples of the "Rights and Wrongs" make a whole lot of sense. A really useful guide.

Dan Wilson used to be a moderator on eBay's Q&A board. The book is a distillation of the information you can pick up for free on any one of eBay's excellent message boards.

The book has recently been updated to reflect changes in the way that eBay operates and has also incorporated some hints and tips about selling on Amazon Marketplace - where a lot of eBay sellers headed when eBay pushed through one extortionate fee increase too many and changed their search mechanic to ensure that many eBay shop owners saw their traffic evaporate from one week to the next.

The bottom line for anyone selling on eBay is don't assume that you can build a sustainable business there. Do a quick search (or ask on the eBay boards) to see how many Top 10 Powersellers are still around after 5 years and how many are no longer trading.

Then take a look at eBay's fee structure...and factor in the Paypal fees (also owned by eBay) that you'll have to pay because it's a mandated payment system.

Then consider that eBay denies all responsibility for fakes sold on its site and has become synonymous in some quarters with pirated merchandise and reflect whether that's an environment that meets your business aspirations.

Factor in a level of customer service that is truly world-class dire and, if you still want to sell on eBay, your expectations will at least be realistic.
