An insightful account and very topical!

Enjoyed this book immensely and found the subtle, and not-so-subtle, power-play between the 'big three' from Teheran to Potsdam particularly revealing. With the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising coming up later this year, perhaps Churchill's forlorn but determined effort to help Poland, via the Special Duty Squadrons based in Italy, will be remembered every bit as much as the Russian abandonment, and later domination of that country. What was it Sir John Slessor said: "the blackest-hearted, coldest-blooded treachery on the part of the Russians". I wonder where we would be now if the 'Unthinkable' had actually been the do-able!.
